Campus Accessibility and Infrastructure
We will work with campus administrators to improve safety at crosswalks on Rivers Street and Howard Street. Students should not have to worry about crossing an unsafe intersection on their way to class.
Many sidewalks and pathways on campus are old and in disrepair. This infrastructure is in need of repair to truly make our campus accessible.
Students should feel safe everywhere on campus; dark areas need lighting to help students stay safe at night.
AppalCart is a crucial service for students without vehicles or parking on campus; students deserve a greater say in where and when the buses run.
We aim to increase the number of trash cans and recycling bins on West Side.
We will work with App PD to understand campus safety protocols in emergency events.
Campus Life
The ability for students to have a space to freely express themselves is an important part of our campus culutre. We will work with both students and administration to find a way to restore a free expression space on App State's campus.
The SGA should be an organization that represents all students, we will work to ensure that the SGA is and remains a place where anyone can make their voice heard.
We will reach out to organizations the SGA has not always connected with. We want to connect SGA and Greek life organizations on campus to the administration. We will collaborate with PHC, IFC, MGC, and NPHC to help grow their communities on campus.
We will work with Greek organizations and the university to get tailgate spots on gamedays.
Students should not have to choose between their mental health and their grades, we will work to get mental health days at App State.
To give more students the opportunity to vote, Election Day should be a university holiday.
Environment and Sustainability
We will work with student organizations, administrators, faculty, and staff to increase App State’s reliance on sustainable, renewable energy and resources.
High-traffic events like game days and graduation bring lots of people to our campus. We’ll advocate to improve the sustainability of these events.
E-bikes offer a fast and easy way to travel and we would like to find a way to bring them to our campus.
We will organize an SGA campus cleanup.
Academics
We will work with the university to allow students to see syllabi for classes prior to registration. As students, we deserve to know more about classes before we choose to sign up for them.
We will advocate for grade accessibility. Every student should be able to understand their standing in a class before the career drop date passes.
Zoom and online classes are becoming more common; we believe that more private Zoom meeting pods and study spaces are necessary on campus.
